GREGORY KLOEHN
Artist Statement

Greg Kloehn's work is about taking the grandeur of the world and mixing it with social irony. Through a solemn, yet playful, rendering of people, animals and everyday objects, He seeks to explore the relationships that have emerged from the symbiotic evolution of us and the world. To re-introduce the viewer to something they are familiar with, yet isolating it from daily considerations and presenting it as a condition of our lives.
His work is about transporting an idea into the tangible world.

Greg Kloehn about his art works:
The working through process behind a piece and the give and take I have between my vision, my skill and the material is the relationship I cherish most. I like some crude essence of the making process and material to remain, leaving the residue of the moment. I see the marks made by the maker and the material as a map to be deciphered by the viewer. Above all, it is good to laugh at a whimsical form or reference. It loosens the air. Issues can be present without overburdening the viewer.
I want to retain a spontaneity that humors, yet evokes thoughts and concerns.
